Kitchen Demolition!!

Michael is my hero!  We spent all day sunday at the house working, working, working.  

I disdainfully cleaned out the giant fridge that was left behind by the previous owner.  (In case you are planning to eat today I will not go into detail the state of said fridge.)

While I scrubbed and cleaned, Michael happily began to take down the tile and countertops in the kitchen.  Lots of pounding and hitting and sheer muscle action later the kitchen was demolished.  Michael even had a little bit of daylight left to rip off some of the damaged sheet rock.  

It was a very productive day!!

bedroom

The bedroom is coming along great!  Furniture is assembled and put in place, bedding is super comfy (Lucy approved), and the floor, despite its failure, looks really good.  

This weeks project will be to get some wall art up and add some COLOR!  

We are both very happy with the way the design has come to life and can't wait to move in!!!

Day Two

Sunday being Michael's only day off we set out to strip the concrete in our master bedroom of paint, glue and any other discrepancies followed by a swift staining and sealing of our new floors. Day two has turned into days two, three and a prospective four and five. All of the hard work will in the end be worth it (I hope) We plan to stain Tomorrow and Seal Friday Let you know how it goes!

Getting the floors ready to stain:

step one: Prepare the room kill ready style (Dexter fans)

step two:  Apply stinky guey acid to rip up all the paint and glue from the floor

step three:  This is where the muscle comes in.  Cue husband for scrubbing and scraping.  Two treatments and lots of ibuprofen later and the floors look great!  Well at least their ready to stain.

Painting the Bedroom:
With the help of some friends (thanks Shannon and Kassie!) we successfully finished painting the master bedroom. Different shades of gray along with an eye popping purple in the closet.
Next step the floors!

Our New Home

Less than two weeks ago my husband Michael and I closed on a great house in Leander, Texas.  It is the perfect corner lot, three bedrooms and two baths.  More than we could ever wish for.  My first summer off as a kindergarten teacher will be spent remodeling, with the help of Michael and some friends and family, our new home.  I am excited and a little nervous to take on the adventure of making a house a home!
